A leading aspirant for the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, has commended Governor of Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promise to reconstruct the critical Ido–Eruwa road, describing the project as a transformative intervention that will significantly ease transportation and boost economic activities within the constituency.

The ongoing reconstruction of the approximately 48-kilometre stretch linking Ido to Eruwa is widely regarded as one of the most impactful infrastructure projects under the governor’s development agenda, opening up the Ibarapa axis and improving connectivity between rural communities and urban centres.

Adedeji, who is widely seen as a leading aspirant for the House of Representatives seat covering Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, noted that the road has historically been a major challenge for residents, farmers, traders and commuters who rely on the corridor for daily economic activities.

According to him, the intervention by Governor Makinde reflects a leadership that listens to the concerns of the people and responds with practical solutions.

He stated that the reconstruction of the road would not only reduce travel time for commuters but would also stimulate commerce, improve agricultural distribution chains, and enhance access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities for residents across the Ibarapa axis.

The aspirant explained that communities along the road had suffered years of hardship due to the deteriorated condition of the route, which had previously been riddled with potholes and neglect. With the current reconstruction works progressing steadily, residents are already beginning to experience the positive impact of the project.

Adedeji further praised the governor’s infrastructure drive under the administration’s developmental agenda, noting that strategic road projects such as the Ido–Eruwa corridor demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusive development across all zones of the state.

“As someone who understands the importance of this corridor to the economic and social life of our people, I must sincerely commend Governor Seyi Makinde for this bold intervention. This road is not just an infrastructure project; it is a lifeline for farmers, traders, students and commuters who depend on it daily,” he said.

He added that the improved road network will significantly enhance mobility, strengthen trade linkages between communities, and attract new investments into the region.

Adedeji also emphasized that the project aligns with the broader vision of creating sustainable development and economic prosperity for the people of Ibarapa and surrounding areas.

While reiterating his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that advance the welfare of the people, the PDP aspirant assured residents that leaders within the constituency would continue to work with the state government to ensure that development reaches every community.

Residents across the Ibarapa axis have equally expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for responding to their long-standing appeal for the rehabilitation of the road, describing the ongoing reconstruction as a historic intervention that will reshape transportation and economic opportunities in the region.

With work progressing steadily on the road project, stakeholders believe the completed corridor will serve as a major economic gateway, strengthening connectivity between Ibarapa communities and other parts of Oyo State while enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
