A former two-term member of the House of Representatives and frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Dada Awoleye, has expressed Easter felicitations to Christians across Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.

The former federal lawmaker called on all Christians to take see the season as a period of sobriety and deep reflection on the true essence of the season.

In his Easter message on Sunday, Awoleye called on Nigerians to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Jesus Christ, particularly sacrifice, love, humility and selflessness, noting that these values remain critical to addressing the nation’s challenges.

“Easter is a solemn reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the redemption of mankind. It calls us to live above selfish interests and embrace love, compassion and selfless service to others,” he said.

He stressed that Easter should not merely be seen as a festive period, but as a time for spiritual renewal and a recommitment to building a more just and united society.

“As a people, we must use this season to reflect deeply on our individual and collective responsibilities to one another and to our nation.

“It is a time to renew our faith, restore hope and recommit ourselves to the ideals of peace and justice,” Awoleye added.

The PDP chieftain also cautioned against divisive tendencies capable of undermining national cohesion, urging citizens to embrace unity of purpose in the interest of sustainable development and nation-building.

“Nigeria’s progress depends on our ability to rise above ethnic, religious and political divisions. We must resist every attempt to sow discord among us and instead work together in unity for the common good,” he stated.

Awoleye further encouraged leaders at all levels to draw lessons from the life of Christ by prioritising service to humanity, fairness and accountability in governance.

“Leadership is a sacred trust. At this critical time in our nation’s history, leaders must demonstrate sincerity, transparency and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people,” he said.

He expressed optimism that with renewed commitment to these ideals, Nigeria would overcome its current security and socio-economic challenges.

“I remain confident that if we hold firmly to the values of sacrifice, love and unity, our country will emerge stronger and more prosperous,” he noted.

Awoleye reaffirmed his dedication to improving the welfare of citizens, particularly in the area of accessible and quality healthcare delivery.

“Under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde, we will continue to prioritise policies and programmes that improve primary healthcare services and ensure that quality care is accessible to all, especially the most vulnerable in our communities,” he assured.
