Several youth organizations across Oyo State have jointly passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Seyi Makinde and the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, citing what they described as visible developmental strides and inclusive governance across the state.
The declaration was made by all registered youth groups operating under the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, representing young people across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.

In a joint statement signed by leaders of various youth bodies, the groups said their decision was based on “verifiable facts, visible transformation, and the undeniable impact of governance” under the current administration.
The youths commended Governor Makinde for what they described as a people-centered leadership style that prioritizes the welfare of citizens and focuses on sustainable growth and inclusive development.

According to the statement, the administration has demonstrated strong capacity in governance through key initiatives including road construction and rehabilitation projects, infrastructural investments, and policies aimed at strengthening security and improving educational opportunities.
They noted that these efforts have significantly improved connectivity across the state, stimulated economic activities, and restored confidence among residents and investors.

The youth groups also applauded the government’s focus on agricultural development, which they said has enhanced food security while creating employment opportunities for thousands of young people.
They further highlighted youth empowerment initiatives, skills acquisition programmes, and governance reforms that have enabled young people to actively participate in the developmental process of the state.
The statement also acknowledged the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, praising Speaker Ogundoyin for providing what they described as stable and effective leadership within the state assembly.
According to the groups, the synergy between the executive and the legislature has ensured smooth policy implementation and the passage of laws that support the administration’s developmental agenda.
“At this critical time in the history of Oyo State, we urge Governor Makinde to remain steadfast and focused. Distractions from certain quarters must not be allowed to derail the good work ongoing in the state,” the statement read.
The youth organizations also encouraged the Speaker to remain resolute in his legislative responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation between both arms of government in advancing the state’s development.
Reaffirming their commitment to the progress of Oyo State, the groups stated that youths across the 33 local government areas would continue to support policies that promote unity, development, and prosperity.
They added that while they would continue to defend initiatives that benefit the people, they would also remain committed to constructive engagement in the interest of the state.
Signatories to the statement include leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Oyo State Chapter), Youth Wing of the Progressive Tradesmen and Artisans Association of Nigeria (PROTAAN), Association of Registered Social Youth Clubs/Forums in Oyo State (ARSOYOC), Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM), Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) Oyo State Chapter, Yoruba Youth Council (Oyo State), National Council for Isese Youth Organization, Association of Entertainment Stakeholders of Oyo State, Federation of Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs, and other youth bodies across the state.
The groups concluded that their vote of confidence represents a collective call for continuity, stability, and sustained progress in Oyo State.
