“Enough Is Enough”: Concerned APC Member Raises Alarm Over Alleged Family Dominance in Oyo APC Politics

A concerned member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called on party leaders and influential stakeholders to exercise restraint and protect the integrity of the party amid growing concerns about alleged attempts to concentrate political power within a single family.

In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday, the party member expressed worry over what was described as “worrisome developments” within the Oyo APC, urging party elders to reflect carefully on actions that could undermine the party’s long-standing tradition of fairness and inclusiveness.

The statement specifically referenced concerns surrounding Florence Ajimobi, who has recently been perceived in some quarters as playing a significant role in internal party decisions, particularly regarding strategic political positions.

According to the statement, allegations that there are efforts to secure multiple elective positions—including senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly tickets—within the same family circle have sparked conversations among party members about the principles of internal democracy and equal opportunity.

“While we acknowledge and respect the legacy of her late husband, Abiola Ajimobi, whose contributions to the development of Oyo State remain significant, it is important to state clearly that no individual should leverage past goodwill to dominate present political structures for personal or family gain,” the statement read.

The concerned APC member stressed that the strength of the party has always rested on collective participation, fairness, and merit-based opportunities for aspirants.

The statement further cited past examples within the state’s political history, noting that families of former leaders such as Lam Adesina and Adebayo Alao-Akala maintained a respectful distance from active interference in political processes, allowing party structures and democratic procedures to function freely.

According to the statement, these precedents should serve as guiding examples for present-day political actors.

“Our party must resist all forms of imposition, favoritism, and the concentration of power within a single family. The strength of the APC lies in fairness, merit, and collective participation—not political monopolization,” the statement added.

The concerned member therefore called on party leaders, elders, and stakeholders to safeguard the credibility of the party by ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of future political contests.

The statement concluded with a passionate appeal for unity and responsibility among party members.

“Oyo State belongs to all of us. Its political future must not be compromised. Enough is enough,” the statement declared.

The message was signed simply as “Concerned APC Member.”
