Former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dada Awoleye, has pledged that residents of Oyo South Senatorial District will experience what he described as “visible and measurable impact” if given another opportunity to serve.

Awoleye gave the assurances while highlighting his legislative records and constituency interventions during his time in the National Assembly. Awoleye insisted that his track record clearly reflects a commitment to purposeful and people-focused representation.

He said quality representation goes beyond rhetoric, stressing that it must translate into laws, empowerment, and tangible projects that directly improve the lives of constituents.

According to him, his time in the Green Chamber was marked by deliberate efforts to address critical national and local issues through legislative initiatives.

Among the bills he sponsored were those seeking to regulate orphanages and protect abandoned children, establish state police to strengthen community security, and reform population census processes for better national planning.

He also pushed for the creation of the Office of the Surgeon-General of the Federation to provide professional health advisory support at the highest levels of government, as well as amendments to existing aviation laws to regulate the use of unmanned aircraft within Nigeria’s airspace.

Beyond bills, the former lawmaker drew attention to motions he raised on pressing public concerns, including cyberattacks on government websites, the need to upgrade the Ibadan Airport, and financial policies affecting ordinary Nigerians, such as ATM maintenance charges.

He also intervened in humanitarian matters, calling for compensation for victims of fire disasters at Omitowoju area in Ibadan.

Awoleye noted that his representation extended to facilitating employment opportunities for over 100 constituents across key federal and state institutions, including security agencies, health institutions, and educational bodies.

“In representation, you must be able to open doors for your people. Governance must be felt at the grassroots,” he said.

On human capital development, he cited the establishment of vocational training centres across wards in Ibadan North federal constituency, where youths and residents were trained in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, ICT, photography, and engineering-related skills.

In the area of infrastructure, Awoleye listed several constituency projects executed during his tenure, including the construction of multiple primary healthcare centres in areas such as Mokola, Agbowo, Yemetu, and Ijokodo, as well as security posts to enhance community safety.

He also oversaw the installation of solar-powered and motorised boreholes across numerous communities to improve access to potable water, alongside the provision of transformers to boost electricity supply in several parts of Ibadan.

Other interventions included solar-powered street lighting projects, road rehabilitation works, and the construction of public sanitation facilities.

In education and technology, the former lawmaker facilitated the supply of computers and the establishment of ICT centres in schools, including The Polytechnic Ibadan and several secondary schools, aimed at improving digital literacy among students.

Awoleye further highlighted his empowerment programmes, which saw the distribution of tricycles, motorcycles, generators, sewing machines, and other tools to constituents, alongside cash grants running into several millions of naira to support small and medium-scale businesses and widows.

He also promoted sports development through the sponsorship of an annual football competition and the establishment of a football club to nurture young talents.

Reflecting on his experience, Awoleye maintained that the combination of legislative work and grassroots interventions defines effective representation.

“What Oyo South needs is not promises but proven capacity. My record speaks to what can be achieved when leadership is driven by sincerity and accountability,” he said.

He assured the PDP leadership in the state that, if given the mandate as the flag bearer of the party in Oyo South Senatorial District come 2027, he would build on past achievements to deliver even greater dividends of democracy across the entire nine local government areas comprising the district.
