Olubadan Calls For Community Policing to Curb Crime in Oyo

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, on Saturday, advocated for community policing, saying this would reduce criminal activities not only in the ancient city of Ibadan but in Nigeria as a whole.

He stated this during the Luncheon organised by the Olubadan Palace in honour of the participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19, 2026 of the Institute for Security Studies from Bwari, Abuja, at the Banquet Hall of Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

This was contained in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olugbemiga Ayoade, in Ibadan, the state capital.

Ladoja said, “If community policing is put in place, it would help in no small measure to eradicate crimes or at least reduce them to the barest minimum not only in Ibadan but in Nigeria as a whole.”

The paramount ruler explained that the luncheon was organised to appreciate and interact with the participants on a week-long study tour of Oyo and share their experiences during the study tour, which is expected to showcase Oyo as a pace-setter and its potentials

Ladoja, while stressing that several successful Nigerians passed through Ibadan city, therefore, called upon such people not to forget Ibadan but instead come round to contribute their quotas for the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland

Earlier, the leader of the team, who is also the Director of Studies, Halimah Ibrahim, commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland and members of his council for the warm reception accorded them since their arrival in the state, which symbolises the hospitality and accommodating nature of Ibadanland

She prayed God to endow Oba Ladoja with sound health, wisdom, peaceful reign and longevity of life in the service of God and humanity

Gracing the occasion were Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Kolawole Adegbola, Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin, Iyalode Line was represented by Taye Soyege, Olori Onikepo Akande, Yetunde Durosaro, Nike Akande, Mojisola Ladipo, and Basira Ajibola

Others include Rasidat Ladoja, current President General Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Ajeniyi Ajewole, former CCII President, Bayo Oyero, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, Dawud Makanjuola, Taju Aremu, representatives of the heads of law enforcement agencies in the state, such as the state Police Commissioner, Commandant of NSCDC, Amotekun, Mogajis, Baales, and other traditional title holders.
