Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has opened up on growing political pressure urging him to contest for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at his Gudi country home in Akwanga during a visit by members of the State Executive Council led by Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe, the governor admitted that persistent calls from political leaders and stakeholders in the region may influence his next move.

Sule revealed that although he initially had plans to back another candidate for the Senate seat, the tide changed after the same individual joined others in urging him to run.
“With the level of pressure coming from our leaders, I don’t want them to feel ignored. I assure them that when the time comes, I will step forward,” he said, hinting strongly at a possible bid.

The governor noted that his decision is still subject to ongoing consultations, particularly with traditional rulers and key political figures across Nasarawa North, who he said have continued to push for what they describe as experienced and quality representation.
As Abdullahi Sule prepares to complete his constitutionally allowed two terms, attention is gradually shifting to his next political chapter—one that may see him transition from the state’s top office to the National Assembly.

Earlier, Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe reaffirmed the unwavering loyalty of the cabinet, declaring their readiness to stand by the governor till the very end of his administration.
“We will stay the course with you until the finish line, and together, we will celebrate our journey,” he said, in a show of unity and confidence in the administration’s legacy.
