A former National President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), ’Wale Ajani, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Oyo Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election under the platform of the Accord Party.
In a statement addressed to media professionals, Ajani said his decision to join the senatorial race is driven by his enduring commitment to public service, leadership, and sustainable development across Oyo Central Senatorial District.

Ajani, who previously served as the Director General of the Oyo State Liaison Office in Abuja and Lagos, highlighted his track record in public administration, noting that his tenure in office left a legacy many still regard as outstanding.
He also recalled his time as the National President of the NYCN, a role in which he made significant contributions to youth development and national engagement, earning him the honorary recognition as President Emeritus. Additionally, he referenced his participation in the 2014 National Conference, where he contributed to deliberations on governance, national unity, and Nigeria’s future.

According to him, these experiences have equipped him with a deep understanding of governance, leadership, and the pressing need for effective and people-oriented representation at the National Assembly.
“The people of Oyo Central deserve credible, experienced, and purposeful representation that truly reflects their aspirations and addresses their needs,” Ajani stated.

He emphasized that his ambition goes beyond contesting an election, noting that his goal is to offer a new level of representation anchored on inclusiveness, accountability, and tangible development.
Ajani further acknowledged the critical role of the media in strengthening democracy, describing it as an indispensable partner in shaping public discourse and promoting responsible leadership. He called for professional collaboration, fair coverage, and objective reportage as his political journey unfolds.
“I am committed to issue-based politics and meaningful engagement that speaks directly to the needs of our people,” he added.
The senatorial hopeful expressed optimism about the future of Oyo Central, pledging to contribute positively to the progress of the district, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large if given the mandate.
His declaration signals the early stirrings of political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with stakeholders expected to closely watch developments within the district in the coming months.
