Hon. Sheriff Segun Adesina (SSA), popularly known as Omo Sheu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ibadan North West State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adesina made his declaration during consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and members at his ward and the Ibadan North West Local Government area, where he reaffirmed his commitment to the unity and growth of the party.
In an open letter addressed to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, party leaders, stakeholders, and members in Ibadan North West, the aspirant expressed appreciation for the governor’s leadership, describing his administration as a model of people-oriented governance that has brought significant progress and renewed hope to the state.
He also commended party leaders and stakeholders within the local government for their efforts in sustaining the strength and unity of the party, noting that their sacrifices and guidance have played a vital role in building a formidable political structure in the area.
Adesina stated that his aspiration to represent Ibadan North West in the Oyo State House of Assembly is driven by a sincere desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development of the constituency and the continued success of the party.
According to him, his political journey has been marked by loyalty and sacrifice, recalling that he stepped down his ambition in both the 2019 and 2023 election cycles in the interest of party unity and collective progress.
“Those decisions were guided by loyalty, discipline, and respect for leadership. While some who benefitted from those sacrifices later chose to leave the party, I remained steadfast and committed to our structure and vision,” he stated.
Adesina added that he is returning with greater experience and readiness to offer effective representation that will address key concerns of the people, including youth empowerment, community development, economic opportunities, and inclusive governance.
He emphasized that leadership must be rooted in trust and collective support, appealing to party leaders and stakeholders for their guidance, counsel, and support as he embarks on the journey toward the 2027 elections.
The aspirant reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and pledged to work in line with the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to strengthen the party’s structure and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of Ibadan North West.
He concluded by urging party members to remain united in the pursuit of peace, progress, and development within the constituency and across Oyo State.
