The Olubadan Palace has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, describing such claims as false and misleading.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the palace clarified that there is no disagreement between the revered monarch and the governor, affirming that both leaders continue to maintain a cordial and respectful relationship.

The statement, signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko, explained that the attention of the palace had been drawn to trending reports alleging that the monarch had travelled out of Ibadan to avoid a coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 3.

However, the palace firmly refuted the claims, stressing that the Olubadan remains in Ibadan and is in good health, actively carrying out his royal responsibilities.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Kabiyesi is hale and hearty in Ibadan and performing the role expected of him as Olubadan,” the statement read.

The palace further explained that the coronation ceremony in question was affected by a formal request from the three High Chiefs who were scheduled to be crowned. According to the statement, the chiefs had communicated their unavailability and requested a postponement of the event.

It added that the development had already been formally conveyed to the state government through the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The palace therefore urged members of the public to disregard reports of any rift between the Olubadan and the state governor, reiterating that no such disagreement exists.
