The Oyo State Government through the State Agency for Youth Development has officially commenced the process for the constitution of the 3rd Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, in a move aimed at deepening youth participation in governance and leadership development across the state.

The initiative, approved under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, is being coordinated by the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development as part of ongoing efforts to empower young people and amplify their voices in policy discourse.

In a public notice issued by the State Government in Ibadan, the Agency called on qualified and interested youths to apply for membership in the new Assembly, describing the platform as a critical avenue for nurturing future leaders and promoting civic engagement.

According to the guidelines, applicants must be indigenes of Oyo State and Nigerian citizens between the ages of 15 and 29. Prospective candidates are also required to possess a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent, alongside a demonstrable passion for youth development and leadership.

The Agency further stipulated that applicants must have no criminal record, must not be affiliated with any secret cult, and must present valid documentation including a Local Government Identification Certificate and a Birth Certificate. Sworn affidavits will not be accepted in place of birth certificates.

Interested applicants are to complete the online application form via the Agency’s official website; https://www.oyostateagencyforyouthdevelopment.com.ng/youth-parliament

Upon submission, candidates are expected to print their completed forms, attach relevant supporting documents, and submit hard copies to the Office of the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, located in the basement of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Secretariat, Ibadan.

The submission window opens on April 14 and closes on April 28, 2026, with the Agency emphasizing strict adherence to the deadline.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Agency, Adebowale Adebayo Falana, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering youth inclusion and leadership capacity, urging eligible young people across the state to take advantage of the opportunity.

He also encouraged applicants to follow the Agency’s official social media platforms for updates and further information, noting that enquiries can be directed through designated contact lines.

The Oyo State Youth Parliament serves as a structured platform for young people to engage in legislative simulations, policy advocacy, and leadership training, contributing meaningfully to the socio-political development of the state.
