Hon. Deacon Olatunde Kehinde, the Honourable Member representing Akinyele Constituency II at the Oyo State House of Assembly, has firmly dismissed reports circulating on sections of social media alleging his involvement in a purported plot to impeach Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued to address the growing speculation, the lawmaker described the allegation as false, misleading, and the handiwork of individuals who do not mean well for the progress and stability of the state.

Hon. Kehinde stated unequivocally that he has never attended any meeting with members of the opposition party or any group aimed at initiating an impeachment process against the governor. He emphasized that the narrative being circulated was a deliberate attempt by detractors to create unnecessary tension within the political space in Oyo State.
The lawmaker noted that he has contested and won elections twice under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that his political journey and legislative service have always aligned with the vision and leadership style of Governor Makinde.

According to him, Governor Makinde’s administration has continued to set remarkable standards in governance, infrastructure development, and people-oriented policies across Oyo State.
“I make bold to say that the narrative is the purview of people who do not want good governance to thrive. I have contested elections twice and emerged victorious under this great party, with His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, serving as a symbol of the leadership ideals I represent,” Kehinde said.

He further described Makinde’s government as one of the most impactful administrations in the history of the state, stressing that no right-thinking individual committed to the growth of Oyo State would contemplate actions capable of undermining the governor’s mandate.
The lawmaker therefore cautioned those spreading the rumours to desist from what he described as petty and destructive politics capable of misleading the public and distracting from the developmental strides currently being witnessed in the state.
Hon. Kehinde urged political actors and members of the public to focus on issue-based discourse that promotes development, unity, and constructive engagement rather than spreading unfounded allegations that do not contribute to the progress of Oyo State.
He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the PDP leadership in the state and his continued support for the administration of Governor Makinde in delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State.
