Lawmaker representing the Ido State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasaq Adekunle Mabaje, has formally disassociated himself from rumored plans to impeach the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
In a terse statement issued to in Ibadan, the state capital, Hon. Mabaje described the alleged impeachment plot as the handiwork of “undemocratic elements,” stressing that he was never consulted nor would he ever lend his voice to any move aimed at destabilizing the current administration.

“My name and integrity cannot be associated with any plan, real or imagined, to remove Governor Seyi Makinde from office,” the lawmaker stated. “The governor has demonstrated exemplary leadership, focus, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people of Oyo State, particularly the good people of Ido Constituency who gave me their mandate.”
Hon. Mabaje further emphasize his total loyalty to Governor Makinde, pledging to continue supporting the governor’s policies and development agenda. He called on other lawmakers to ignore what he termed “distractions and baseless rumors,” urging them to focus on legislative duties that would advance the state’s progress.

“Governor Makinde remains our leader, and I will continue to stand firmly behind him. Any speculation suggesting otherwise is false and should be disregarded,” Hon. Mabaje added.
The Oyo State House of Assembly has yet to release an official statement on the alleged impeachment rumors, but Hon. Mabaje’s swift disavowal is seen by political analysts as a significant blow to any anti-Makinde faction within the legislature.

Hon. Mabaje concluded by calling on his constituents and the wider Oyo public to remain calm and continue supporting the Makinde-led administration to deliver on its “Omituntun 2.0” roadmap.
