The Forum of Chairmen and Directors-General (DGs) in Oyo State has firmly dismissed reports of a purported move to impeach the state governor, His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde FNSE, D.Sc, GSSRS, describing the development as unfounded and a distraction from governance.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Kamaru Aderibigbe, and Secretary, Prince Adebowale Falana, made available to newsmen on Wednesday, the forum expressed concern over the circulation of what it termed baseless rumours, insisting that no such plot holds merit.

The forum declared its unwavering support for the governor, noting that his administration has continued to deliver stability, infrastructural development, and people-oriented policies across the state.

It stressed that it would not stand by while individuals or groups attempt to derail the progress recorded under the current leadership.

Condemning the alleged impeachment move in strong terms, the group described it as ill-motivated, unconstitutional, and a deliberate attempt to distract the government from its core responsibility of delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

The forum further called for calm among residents and political stakeholders, urging them to disregard what it described as unfounded claims. It emphasised the need for unity and collective focus in sustaining the ongoing developmental strides across the state.

Reaffirming its commitment to the governor, the forum maintained that this is a critical period for governance and consolidation of achievements, rather than engaging in actions capable of undermining peace and stability.

The statement concluded with a pledge of continued loyalty to the administration and a commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the overall development of Oyo State.
