Residents of Aragba, Ifelodun and Okeremi communities in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State have commended the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Hon. Lanre Sarumi, for his intervention aimed at enhancing security and protecting lives and property within the communities.
The commendation followed the donation and installation of a modern security gate, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and solar-powered security lights across the affected communities.
Residents described the intervention as a significant contribution to community safety, noting that the security projects would improve surveillance, strengthen access control and help deter criminal activities within the area.
According to members of the communities, the initiative reflects Sarumi’s commitment to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the people, particularly at a time when security remains a major concern for residents.
They described the projects as timely interventions that would contribute significantly to the protection of lives and property while creating a safer environment for residents and businesses.
The residents particularly praised Sarumi for responding to their security concerns and demonstrating what they described as a genuine commitment to grassroots development.
They also urged other political leaders, public office holders and well-meaning individuals to emulate such interventions by supporting projects capable of directly improving the lives of the people.
Speaking collectively, the communities maintained that sustainable development must go beyond political promises and should be reflected in practical interventions that address the immediate needs of the people.
Meanwhile, residents of Aragba, Ifelodun and Okeremi communities have expressed their readiness to support leaders and political candidates who prioritise the welfare, security and development of the people.
The communities declared their support for the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the gubernatorial aspiration of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They stated that their political support would be guided by leadership that delivers tangible development, promotes peace and security, and remains closely connected to the grassroots.
The residents stressed that the security intervention facilitated by Hon. Lanre Sarumi had further demonstrated the importance of responsive leadership and community-focused initiatives.
They expressed optimism that continued collaboration between political leaders, community stakeholders and residents would contribute to improved security and sustainable development across Ibadan North Local Government Area.
