The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has described former council chairman and Federal Commissioner representing Oyo State on the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, as a “pride and illustrious son” of Oluyole.
This was as Olatunji stated that his contributions to public service have brought honour and recognition to the local government.
Olatunji stated this in a message to felicitate him on the occasion of his birthday anniversary celebration, describing the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate the former council boss beyond partisan politics and political differences.
The council chairman said while political affiliations and interests could sometimes create differences among public officials and political actors, such considerations should not erase the recognition due to individuals who have distinguished themselves through years of service to their people and the nation.
According to him, Aleshinloye’s trajectory in public service, particularly his experience in grassroots administration and his current responsibility at the Federal Character Commission, remains a source of pride to the people of Oluyole.
“Politics aside, Hon. Abass-Aleshinloye is a pride and an illustrious son of Oluyole. Whatever our political differences or affiliations may be, we must always acknowledge and celebrate those who have contributed meaningfully to the growth and development of our local government and society at large,” Olatunji said.
He noted that Aleshinloye’s years of service in local government administration had given him considerable experience in grassroots governance, adding that his emergence as a federal commissioner further demonstrated the capacity of sons and daughters of Oluyole to contribute to national development.
Olatunji particularly acknowledged Aleshinloye’s tenure as chairman of Oluyole Local Government and his subsequent leadership role in the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), describing the positions as opportunities through which he contributed to local-government administration and advocacy.
The council boss said the former chairman’s current position at the Federal Character Commission had also provided another platform for him to serve Oyo State and contribute to the promotion of fairness and equitable representation in federal opportunities.
“Today is not about politics. It is about celebrating a son of Oluyole who has spent a significant part of his life in public service. We may belong to different political platforms, but that should not prevent us from recognising merit, experience and contributions to society.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Oluyole Local Government, I congratulate Prince Abass-Aleshinloye on this special occasion. We celebrate his life, his service to humanity and his contributions to our dear local government,” he added.
Olatunji prayed God to grant Aleshinloye longer life, sound health, wisdom and greater opportunities to continue serving humanity and contributing to the development of Oluyole, Oyo State and Nigeria.
He urged the celebrant to regard his birthday as another opportunity to reflect on his years of public service and continue to deploy his experience and influence towards the advancement of the people.
The council chairman also expressed optimism that Aleshinloye would continue to remain a worthy ambassador of Oluyole and an example of the capacity of the people of the local government to attain positions of responsibility at both state and national levels.
“May the years ahead bring you greater fulfilment and renewed opportunities to impact lives. Happy birthday to a distinguished son of Oluyole. We wish you many more years of accomplishments and service,” Olatunji concluded.
