Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has firmly declared that all aspirants seeking elective offices in the 2027 general elections under his political structure will contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), putting to rest speculations about possible defections.
The governor made this known on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the State Secretariat in Ibadan, where party leaders and loyalists gathered to deliberate on the future of the party in the state.

Makinde reassured party faithful of his commitment to the PDP, emphasizing that he and his supporters have no immediate plans to leave the party despite ongoing political realignments across the country.
In a move aimed at fostering unity and reducing internal conflicts, the governor also disclosed that a consensus arrangement would be adopted in selecting candidates for all elective positions ahead of the 2027 polls.

According to him, the consensus approach is designed to strengthen cohesion within the party, avoid unnecessary rancour during primaries, and position the PDP for a more formidable outing in the elections.
Makinde further stressed the importance of loyalty and discipline among party members, noting that all elected officials and aspirants must align with the party’s collective decisions as preparations for 2027 gradually take shape.

The announcement is expected to shape political calculations within Oyo PDP, as stakeholders begin to strategize under a unified framework championed by the governor.
