In a significant boost to local security and nighttime commerce, the lawmaker representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, has continued his light up project with the donation of another 10 solar powered streets lights.

This development brings the number of solar lights distributed to communities in Oluyole to 30 within the space of one week.

In this new batch Hon Akintayo extended his “Light Up Constituency Project” to the popular Soka ‘Under Bridge’ area with 5 lights.

The lawmaker, popularly known as “Ilumoka Presenter,” aimed to provide high-capacity solar-powered street lights at the strategic junction, a move aimed at eradicating the darkness that has long plagued the area.

The Soka ‘Under Bridge’ axis, a vital link within the Oluyole local government area, has frequently been identified as a dark spot prone to petty crimes and vehicular accidents at night.

By installing these solar units, Hon. Akintayo aims to Deter Criminal Activities, increase visibility, and discourage hoodlums from using the shadows as cover.

Hon Waheed Akintayo also donated another five solar lights to Isokan Abolowola community in New Felele.

Speaking during the handing over of the 10 Solar lights held at his office, Hon. Akintayo emphasized that the project is a continuation of his commitment to the wards within his constituency.

He said “This latest phase follows the successful flag-off of the initiative earlier in communities like Olunde, where several units were deployed to primary schools and markets.

“Our goal is to ensure that no part of Oluyole is left in the dark. Public lighting is not just about aesthetics; it is a fundamental component of community security.

“We are starting with the most vulnerable points, and the Soka ‘Under Bridge’ is a priority due to its high foot traffic.”

Receiving the solar lights for Soka Under bridge, General President, New Felele, Alhaji Asimiyu Oladiti who led other members of the executives to the office expressed immediate relief, praising the “broadcaster-turned-lawmaker” for his hands-on approach to representation.

Also speaking on behalf of Isokan Estate community Abolowola Soka, Chairman, Mr. Adebayo Sodiq Adewale and Secretary, Akeem Olakigbo noted that the solar-powered nature of the lights ensures sustainability regardless of the national grid’s stability.
